Hello and welcome all to the Pokemorph RPG! Where the Pokemon drink coffee!
This is a multifandom RPG: you may apply as any published character from any medium. This includes anime, manga, games, books, and whatever else you can think of!
Rated PG-13, because who knows? Things could get a little bloody. Maybe even sexual if characters click enough. :X
(Sorry about this being choppy and kind of rambling... I'm bad at plot explanations. XD I guess you'll learn more about it if you join? ^^;)
In a land perhaps not as far away as one would think, Pokemon once ruled the land, skies, and seas. The earliest known creatures of their planet, Pokemon existed like the dinosaurs: they prospered and continued to grow and evolve with time.
That is, until the humans came.
No one knows where they came from. All they know is that the Pokemon and humans, for some reason... didn't quite click. The Pokemon carried viruses that they had long before grown immune to, and spread them to the small human population. But instead of becoming ill, they transformed into a Pokemon, little by little, until nearly every human had become some sort of Pokemon hybrid.
Today, pure blooded humans are rare and are thought to live in a small colony separate from the rest of the world. Pure blooded Pokemon, however, have since died out when the humans began to build civilization as we know it. The Pokemorphs that exist in the present take on the roles of normal humans in a technologically advanced world -- they have jobs, food, clothing, shelter... all the necessities for survival and then some.
Instead of battling Pokemon like we are familiar with, the Pokemorphs battle each other. Born with their own special abilities and classed into elements and species, Pokemorph battling has evolved into many different things -- a sport, an art, a profession, and a hobby, among other things.
In recent years, the exploration of deep space has begun, and scientists are finding new ways to extend the life span of Pokemorphs. Things that were once fantasy a few millenia ago are now becoming reality, and life continues to become more convenient with each passing day.
But with the coming of new technology, there is always a price to pay, unbeknownst to the general public for a long time. But the scientists knew... the planet will lose its natural resources in a few more years. They have kept this a secret from most Pokemorphs, so as not to alarm them, but it becomes harder and harder to hide. The fresh water of the planet is at a lower percentage than ever; natural gas, oil, and petroleum are being depleted at an alarming rate; and it seems like the mere existence of people is what will cause the end of intelligent life as we know it.
To combat this, those that know have begun experimenting on Pokemorphs to survive when the planet runs dry of its natural resources. Known as "super-morphs", the highly genetically advanced Pokemorphs have been kept under wraps since the study of them began about 15 years ago, when an ancient yet incredibly evolved Pokemorph known simply as "Mew" for its cat-like behavior was discovered alive. Using its DNA, newer, more advanced Pokemorphs were artificially engineered within the labs hidden away in hard to reach places.
It is rumored that the original Mew has since escaped, and scientists, in a panic, have saved what little DNA they had and attempted to clone it, but have failed time and time again. Until recently, that is, when they finally managed to create a living super-morph with the same powers and abilities as Mew. Supposedly, that super-morph escaped, killing all scientists and Pokemorphs involved with its creation.
And word has begun to leak out at last. More and more Pokemorphs are learning of the withering planet's condition, and the experiments as well. Some are livid about it, others could care less, and still others believe that the experimentation is the key to their survival.
And so the Pokemorphs remaining on the planet live with little other option but to continue on with their daily lives. But unbeknownst to them, the super-morphs still alive today have begun to form a plan, with the knowledge of the planet and the powers of Mew on their side...
In this lonely universe, has the world met its end...?
- No more than five or six characters per person, please. You may start out with one or two and add from there, but please don't try to apply for all five or six at once. Settle into the RPG before you try for a lot of characters.
- Please try to update every week or two with your characters. Inactivity hurts RPGs! If you need to go on a hiatus, please let me know.
- Please do not power play. When I say "power play", I mean doing something to someone's character (such as injuring them or killing them off) without the other player's consent, or doing something outlandish to your own character that would just never happen.
- Respect the other players. Now, characters can insult each other all they want in-character, and granted, arguments do happen, but you don't need to insult someone to get a point across.
How to Apply
You can apply with any character you'd like, as long as they have been published in some way. No original characters, unfortunately. To apply, fill out the form below and email it to aphotic at aura[at]smallmagic.net:
Your Name: Your Age: (Like stated before, PG-13, but we won't kick you out if you're 12, I promise.) Character's Name: Fandom: Character's Age: Description (and/or picture): (If you link to a picture, you don't have to describe them, but it would be a plus.) Personality: Canon History: (When I say "canon history", I mean how you've altered your character to fit into the Pokemorph universe, not how their past plays out in their own fandom.) Species: (If you're a Pokemorph, choose any Pokemon [even fourth gens!] and that will be your species. If you're a pure human or a legendary Pokemon, you should have a good reason for being so. Again, pure Pokemon do not exist.) Other: (Any special abilities or other things that aren't normally part of your character or their species? List them here.)
...And that's about it. When you're done, you can email it to miss moderator as an attachment or as part of the message, AIM/MSN it to her (kazuhi017 on AIM, sapphiredewgong[at]hotmail.com on MSN), or if you prefer, post it on the application post. Any of these work.
